Visiting A Dispensary May Not Be What You're Imagining
Close your eyes, and picture a marijuana dispensary. If you are someone who has visited one in the past, then your imagination of one is probably pretty accurate. However, if you have never visited a dispensary, then the reality is likely quite different than what you're imagining. Many people can be surprised when they step into a dispensary for the first time because it's not quite what they thought it would be. Here are some common assumptions people have about dispensaries — along with an examination of how those assumptions get things wrong.
Assumption: Dispensaries are questionable shops.
Perhaps this assumption arises because marijuana has been illegal for so long, many people may believe that dispensaries are unkept and below-board establishments. However, you may be surprised. Dispensaries are very professional, clean, well-run establishments. There are a lot of regulations they need to follow, so the standards are high. And, generally, the people who run dispensaries do so because they truly care about their customers and want them to have a good experience. The atmosphere in a dispensary will reflect that.
Assumption: Dispensaries are full of smoke.
Are you picturing a smoky and hazy room? You're not alone. This is a common image that comes to mind when people picture a dispensary. However, dispensaries do not typically allow customers or employees to smoke in the shop. Some of the employees likely do use cannabis, but they are professionals who know how to use it responsibly and will be alert and capable to do their job well. Dispensary employees, who are known as budtenders, are well-equipped to answer your questions and help you find what you need.
Assumption: Dispensaries only carry weed.
Are you imagining a room where the walls are all lined with bins of flowers in various varieties? This is not the least accurate of dispensary images, but it's certainly incomplete. Most dispensaries do have a great selection of flower varieties. However, they also tend to carry a wide array of other products including edibles, vape cartridges, CBD creams and pills, and even some other herbal remedies and supplements. Some dispensaries are inside larger natural healing or health food stores, which means they offer even more products. If you're expecting to only see weed, then you may be surprised at what else they have to offer.
Hopefully, you now have a better idea of what to expect when you visit a dispensary. If there is one near you, then pay them a visit. Likewise, contact a dispensary for more information.
